I’m Herbel Santiago. I’m a Filipino writer and international educator.

I worked hard to finish my AB Literature in English from Ateneo de Manila University. Ever the resourceful, I pretended to be 25 when I was just 18 to nab a part-time teaching gig. Finished school with sheer grit, tenacity, and determination.

Nowadays, such resilience and tibay ng loob have come in handy. They shape the stories that I create. The characters of the stories that whisper themselves to me are always fraught with difficulties. And yet, they persevere.

I write to immortalize these stories of resilience.
