Another academic year has ended.
And I expected relief to feel clear and immediate.
But instead, it arrived quietly.
Not as an ending.
But as a slow noticing of everything that had been carried for too long.
This year did not feel linear
It felt like holding multiple tensions at once:
Between what I hoped teaching could be.
What students were ready or willing to engage with.
And what the system quietly rewards.
As the academic year comes to a close, I reflect on the challenges of teaching critical thinking, supporting students through grade anxiety, and maintaining work-life boundaries as an English teacher. I also share three changes I plan to make next year to create more intentional learning experiences while sustaining myself in the profession.
